Horoscope is a natal chart depicting position of planets at the time of nativity or any event. It represents the zodiacal sign rising at the place of birth and the location of planets in various signs. In Sanskrit it is known as Janma Kundali literally meaning birth-serpent’s coil. The zodiacal signs are related to several houses in the horoscope connecting to various aspects of life. Every child takes birth on that decided day, at that particular chosen time, when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with its individual karma. It is, therefore, amply clear that a true horoscope relates the planets, houses, and minute divisions of the signs in order to show the strength and potential of the planets or otherwise, for that particular native. The horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing the native’s unalterable past and its probable future results. The horoscope can be rightly interpreted only by a few men of intuitive wisdom. [6]
A horoscope, though as such, is merely a kind of astronomical chart depicting planets relative to the place and time of the event, it gets life only when it becomes truly relative to a native. Therefore, any predictions based on these details depend upon the very existence of such a person, besides various aspects, such as the correctness of the chart in terms of accurate time, date and place of birth, accuracy in erecting the chart with mathematical precision, the ability of the Astrologer in applying astrological principles relevant to the specific astronomical data as present in the horoscope and besides all, the Astrologer being virtuous to be blessed with intuitive wisdom.
Another pathetic deficiency is the absence of any unanimity amongst the learned Astrologers about an important point, the Ayanamsha [7] Correction, to be applied to each horoscope. This has resulted in several Ayanamshas being in vogue. No one agrees any one’s Ayanamsha brings the truth that no Ayanamsha is dependable. One cannot say with certainty that just because one particular Ayanamsha is followed by more people, it would become true. One can get two or more different planetary positions for the same horoscope by applying different Ayanamsha. With this confusion, there could be drastic variance with regard to every aspect of the same horoscope. Where would the predictions stand, and remedies work when they are based on such horoscopes, though one can claim having achieved success in some cases?
The true horoscope [8] is a blue print of the individual and the massage boldly blazoned across the heavens at the moment of birth. The responsibility of deciphering these cryptic codes, present in the horoscope, and guiding the individual falls on the Astrologer. The Astrologer has to de-code the message found in the horoscope, which otherwise is the placement of planets at different places (for that time, date and place furnished by an individual) and put it across to the individual and guide him to his destiny.
As is done in many cases, the horoscope is not meant to emphasize fate – the result of past good and evil- but to arouse man’s will to escape from his universal thralldom. What he has done, he can undo. None other than he himself was the instigator of the causes of whatever effects are now prevalent in his life. He can overcome any limitation, because he created it by his own actions in the first place, and because he possesses spiritual resources that are not subject to planetary pressure.
But where to find a good astrologer who would lead the already troubled person away from the maze of cumbersome astrological calculations and jargon used commonly by the soothsayers in the presence of any client, who is impatient and wants only the result in a jiffy. Also superstitious fear of astrology makes one an automation, slavishly dependent on mechanical guidance. The wise man defeats his planets- which is to say, his past- by transferring his allegiance from the creation to the Creator. The more he realizes his unity with Spirit, the less he can be dominated by matter. The soul is ever free; it is deathless because it is birthless. It cannot be regimented by stars. Every astrologer’s duty is to stress these points and guide the seekers to be in unity with the spirit with unflinching faith, devotion; some amount of patience and begin to do good acts of suggested remedial measures during the periods of trouble in order to surely overcome the hardships faced for the time being.
In many cases, the disturbed and restless client does not understand all the astrologicalities, but wants to get over the ticklish issue he got in, or he wants to be given only a green signal / guidance for important crucial decisions regarding some investment, business, marriage or the like. Some times he wants the solution and remedy to work even before he leaves the Astrologer’s chamber. Not to talk of the Neo-Astrologers who claim Kalasarpa dosha etc., in every case and those who provide instant remedies over the counter and misguide the already troubled native. In the fact of reality that no Astrologer, however qualified and expertised, he or she cannot do any justice to a native in such a short time of minutes and seconds. Such acts and behaviours of some self-serving Astrologers not only degrade the supreme spiritual science but also bring harm to the troubled and disturbed seekers, besides getting wrong propaganda for Astrology.
It is found from our experience that over 90 percent of hand-written horoscopes and some amount of computerized horoscopes were wrong in mathematical calculation and erecting. When the basics itself goes wrong and erratic, where one can find a fruitful result is the mute question to be answered. Most of the chaotic conditions in the society, on broken marriage, wrong profession, wrong career advices, greedy investment decisions etc, can be attributed to such misadventurous astrological instant predictions, instant guidance and instant remedies, for which the blame must not only be shared by the Astrologers but also the intellectually pervert seekers
Astrology is only a guide to be used as a tool by those who have not been blessed with Siddhi. It is to be appreciated that the planetary positions and events to come can only be indicated as prediction, but certainly cannot be proclaimed authoritatively. The planetary combinations in the constellations once occurred will never repeat for millions of years to come and for this reason every man’s birth becomes unique in itself, with distinct characteristic and features. It is, therefore, beyond one’s reach to conclude an evidence of recurrence of events based on any number of data he has collected or analyzed in his or her short life span of 50 to 70 years to produce a workable result for the future.
Yogis, Rishis, Seers and Siddhas have lived for several Yugas. They were the cause and witness to many miracles. They surely had a clear account and knowledge of the sky and hence produced several classical literatures to help the less intelligent man of the future. It is, therefore, to be borne in mind that the intuitional wisdom does not grow in tandem with gaining of theoretical knowledge. The Sookshma Gnana (Subtle Knowledge) on Astrology will not be available in the literatures. It is secret and will remain secret. The secrets of the subject cannot be revealed through any books. Hence neither mastering the mathematical aspect of Astrology nor specializing it through various classical texts guarantee mastery over providing solace or the much needed remedy to the suffering.
Those who are blessed with Siddhi will not use any such mechanical or mathematical data. They can just close their eyes and concentrate on the object or events. By sheer grace they will be in communion with the higher levels of consciousness, where they will be intuitively guided with the events to occur, with ways and means of warding of the evils if any.
From the view point of the natives or the seekers of Astrological help, the science of Jyothisha or the Horoscope can only help those who work with it and not to those who addict to it. For when one expects too much of anything from Astrology, he will eventually find that the science of his dependence is not competent to answer the so called predictions nor capable of fulfilling his expectations. As the human mind can generate over 30,000 thoughts per day, the mind must be well organized to work on realistic possibilities with the aid of Astrology rather than expect Astrology to work for the self.
Note : [6] It is here that the intuitive knowledge gifted to Dr. N Rajgopal by Babaji, known as MindScope ,helps him in precisely knowing the correct planetary afflictions or deficiency etc., of a native without the horoscope.
Note : [7] During its northward and southward journey Sun crosses the imaginary celestial equator twice, once on the 21st of March and again on the 21st of September. These two days are known as the Vernal Equinox and the Autumn Equinox. Equinox means the day and night being of equal duration. The Sun is supposed to be at the starting point of Aries, which is the first sign of the Zodiac, on the Vernal Equinox or 21st of March. But because the earth’s orbit is elliptical instead of circular, the Sun does not return to the same point on the Zodiac after the completion of one revolution. He misses it by about 50.29 seconds every year. This is known as the retrograde motion of the equinox or the precession of the equinox through the zodiacal belt. In the absence of any agreement among astrologers, both western and Indian, as to the year in which the 10 of Aries coincided with the Vernal Equinox i.e., March 21, Government of India adopted AD 285 as the year and the precession to 50.29 seconds per year, based on the recommendations of N C Lahiri, Secretary to the Calendar Reform Committee, set up by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru. Still, there are several Ayanamshas with different years such as Hipparchus, Cyril Fagan, Krishnamurthy, BV Raman, Yukteswar, etc are in vogue.
